At the Black Film Guild, we believe storytelling is a vital tool for public engagement, policy, and cultural progress. Through our Cultural Strategist in Government initiatives, we work directly with local agencies to shape how communities are seen, heard, and served.

From co-producing the Grand Avenue Mobility Project with the Oakland Department of Transportation to creating Safe Routes to School campaigns and visual storytelling for public health, we’ve embedded creative strategies into real civic work. Our team helps translate policy into visuals that resonate — ensuring community voices are part of the process, not an afterthought.
